Pranpur: India’s First Craft Handloom Tourism Village
Around 207 km from Gwalior, Pranpur is the heart of Madhya Pradesh’s Chanderi silk tradition. Just 3 km from Chanderi, this village is home to 450 weaver families dedicated to preserving the art of handloom weaving. The village’s heritage is visible in its century-old houses, enhanced by Ujjain’s design students. Beyond its famous saris, Pranpur showcases crafts like stone carvings and terracotta. The Gwalvanshi community, devoted to Lord Krishna, enriches the village with traditional folk songs. Bhopal Hosts 39th IATO Annual Convention: A Tourism Boost for Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal will host the 39th Annual Convention of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) from August 30 to September 2,2024. Themed “Resurgent India Inbound,” the event will attract over 1,000 delegates, including key stakeholders, travel agents, and tour operators. The convention will spotlight Madhya Pradesh’s rich history, culture, and natural beauty, including its 12 national parks, seven tiger reserves, and 14 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board will also organize ten post-convention familiarization (FAM) tours and the “IATO Run for Responsible Tourism” on September 1. This convention is expected to significantly boost the state’s tourism industry.
